Seasonal moves are a common part of life for many residents in Red Oak, TX. Whether it’s a temporary relocation for work, downsizing during retirement, moving between leases, or managing household changes during different times of the year, these transitions often come with one major challenge: space. Having too many belongings and not enough room can make an already stressful move feel overwhelming. Self storage units offer a practical solution during these periods of change. Access Self Storage – Red Oak, located at 561 E Ovilla Rd in Red Oak, TX 75154, provides convenient storage options that help residents manage seasonal moves more smoothly and with less disruption. Why Seasonal Moves Create Storage Challenges Seasonal moves rarely happen all at once. Many residents find themselves moving in stages, especially during peak moving seasons such as summer or around the holidays. Furniture, boxes, and personal items may need a temporary home while waiting for a new lease to begin, renovations to finish, or family arrangements to settle. Without extra space, homes can quickly become cluttered and difficult to navigate. Garages and spare rooms often fill up fast, making daily life uncomfortable. Self storage units give residents the flexibility to move at their own pace while keeping belongings safe and organized. How Self Storage Units Support Flexible Moving Timelines One of the biggest advantages of using self storage units during seasonal moves is flexibility. Instead of rushing to move everything in one day, residents can store items temporarily and retrieve them when they are ready. This is especially helpful for families, students, and professionals facing uncertain timelines. Access Self Storage – Red Oak offers storage solutions that support short-term and transitional needs. Having a secure place nearby allows residents to focus on settling into their new space without feeling pressured to unpack everything immediately. Reducing Stress During Household Transitions Seasonal moves often come with emotional and logistical stress. Managing belongings while coordinating schedules, utilities, and transportation can feel overwhelming. Self storage units help reduce this burden by providing a dedicated space ...

Giving Back Through Compassion and Community At Access Self Storage, we believe that being part of a community means more than providing storage space—it means showing up, lending a hand, and giving back whenever we can. Yesterday, Dee Dee Williams, one of our managers from the Red Oak location, volunteered her time at the Inspired Vision Compassion Center, an organization dedicated to serving children and families in need. Inspired Vision Compassion Center works to uplift the community by providing essential resources, support, and opportunities that help families build hope and stability. Dee Dee spent the day helping children and witnessing firsthand the joy and resilience they carry, even in challenging circumstances. Reflecting on her experience, she shared: “These children reminded me to be grateful for everything big and small. To find joy, in even the most difficult situations. To hold on to hope. To believe there is still good in a world of negativity, if you stop, breathe, and look! I received my Christmas gifts yesterday.” Moments like these remind us of the power of compassion and the importance of giving back. We are proud of Dee Dee and all of our team members who continue to represent Access Self Storage with kindness, generosity, and heart—both inside and outside of work. Thank you to the Inspired Vision Compassion Center for the incredible work they do, and to Dee Dee for sharing this meaningful experience with us ...

Business Owner Leads By Example and Raises Thousands for Education in Ellis County For Doug Hunt, “back to school” isn’t just a date on the calendar—it’s a reminder of how much the community matters, especially its students and teachers. As a longtime supporter of the Red Oak ISD Education Foundation, Doug finds meaningful ways to stay involved throughout the year. As the owner of Access Self Storage, Doug supports education in Red Oak through the Education Foundation’s annual “Handbags for Hawks” fundraiser—a spring event that draws a crowd for a lively night of designer handbag bingo. For years, he has been the event’s Louis Vuitton raffle sponsor, personally covering the cost of the coveted prize. But Doug doesn’t just write a check. He shows up, sells raffle tickets, works the event, and rallies others to get involved. “Doug doesn’t just support us financially—he’s in the room, talking to people, selling tickets,” said Karen Anderson, Executive Director of the Red Oak ISD Education Foundation. “His energy is a big part of why this event does so well. He leads by example, and people respond to that.” The 2025 "Handbags for Hawks" event was the most successful to date, raising over $61,000. The funds directly support the Education Foundation's "Grants for Great Ideas" program. These classroom and campus-wide grants are awarded to educators who bring innovative, hands-on projects into Red Oak schools. Past grant proposals include classroom technology, interactive materials, outdoor learning tools, expert-led workshops, and even equipment for student take-home kits, all designed to challenge students and deepen learning across grade levels. Beyond sponsoring events, Hunt regularly uses his Access Self Storage marquee on Ovilla Road to spotlight community achievements, local church events, and school district news. Doug often offers his vacation home as a prize for local charity auctions in Ellis County, which has helped raise a significant amount of money for area organizations. Doug is also TSSA’s Charitable Fundraising Chair and works tirelessly each year to help raise funds to help support Shriners Children’s Texas. ...
